Starring Darcie Belle, Breezy, and Javier


This video follows course guidelines for Med Tech 517A: Forensics. It is intended as supplemental training material to be used with The Essentials of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, 13th Edition (Marshall, J. F., 2015).


In this video, Dr. Breezy Fox uses a hands-on training method to instruct her student, Javier, in the basic procedures of post mortem forensics. Darcie Belle is a paid actress who is tasked with lying perfectly still on the exam table, pretending to be a beautiful, fresh body for them to work with.

The team begins by undressing Darcie as she lies still for them. Javier peels off her socks while Dr. Fox takes photos for documentation purposes. Once she is completely nude, the team takes fingerprints and scrapings from under the fingernails. They swab before they pull out the tongue with forceps to check inside the mouth. Next, a medical flashlight is used to check the response of the pupils to light.

Dr. Fox and Javier then proceed to the breast tissue massage. Using gloved hands, they carefully squeeze the breast tissue. Next, the body must be rolled over so that they team can check the back. Using teamwork, they grab her, making sure to place the bottom arm carefully underneath the body before flipping. Once on her stomach, the team places a block beneath her chin. They take internal temperature and perform a thorough visual scan of the body.

Finally, the body is turned again and placed on her back. Her hands are placed on her abdomen, the block is replaced behind the back of her neck, and the team takes the evidence that was bagged throughout the examination to the lab for further testing.
